Totally Enclosed.
Designed to shut
contamination
out.

Conventional open-ventilated alternators rely on airflow for cooling. In contamination-heavy operating environments, that same airflow can introduce fine particles, abrasive dust, moisture and debris into the alternator.

Over time, these contaminants accumulate around insulation systems and electrical components, contributing to accelerated wear, insulation degradation and unplanned downtime.

The T-Type Totally Enclosed alternator addresses this challenge at the design stage.

Featuring a totally enclosed brushless synchronous construction, the T-Type platform physically isolates active electrical components from the external operating environment, preventing particulate ingress and direct contamination exposure.

Standard IP54 is designed for demanding dust-heavy environments and routine exposure to moisture, while optional IP67 configurations provide enhanced protection for applications exposed to severe water ingress or temporary water immersion.

Unlike severe-environment open-ventilated machines designed primarily around humidity, salinity or corrosive exposure, the T-Type platform is optimised specifically for environments where physical contamination and ingress are the dominant operational threats.

Built for heavy-
duty mobile
applications

The T-Type range is available in both 2-pole and 4-pole configurations from 6.5 kVA to 96 kVA at 50Hz, supporting a broad range of heavy-duty mobile and industrial power generation requirements.

Applications include:

  • Civil protection and fire brigade gensets
  • Compact aggregate processing equipment
  • Hydraulic-driven generators
  • Military field power units
  • Mining and quarrying
  • Mobile crushing and screening units
  • Outdoor installations with increased ingress exposure
  • Rail auxiliary power units
  • Road construction machinery
  • Under-vehicle generator systems

The T-Type platform is particularly suited to applications where physical contamination, particulate ingress or increased exposure to moisture create greater reliability risks for conventional open-ventilated machines.

T-Type and V-Type:
Choosing the
best protection
strategy

Environmental challenges vary significantly by application. Quarries and construction sites deal primarily with dust ingress, cement particles, incidental spray, and physical debris. Coastal installations and industrial plants face different problems – persistent humidity, salt spray, chemical vapours, and cumulative moisture exposure. Where physical contamination and washdown exposure dominate, the T-Type provides physical isolation through totally enclosed construction. For applications where humidity, salinity and corrosive exposure are primary concerns, the
V-Type severe-environment open-ventilated platform offers enhanced environmental durability whilst maintaining thermal efficiency. The comparison below helps identify the most suitable platform based on dominant site conditions:

ENVIRONMENTAL DRIVER T-TYPE V-TYPE
Dust-heavy industrial sites Optimised solution Recommended
Cement / quarry / crushers Optimised solution Recommended
Incidental moisture exposure Optimised solution Recommended
Severe particulate ingress Optimised solution Recommended
High humidity / condensation Suitable Optimised solution
Coastal salinity exposure Suitable Optimised solution
Chemical vapours / corrosive environments Suitable Optimised solution
